Recent Graduates

Recent Graduates 2004-2005

Former students have been very active both in publication and in acceptance into graduate/professional schools. Two were admitted into the Ph.D. program at Florida State University and another sought (and has since gained) admittance into the M.F.A. program at West Virginia University. A book of poetry, Beautiful Trouble, by one former student was published and won the Crab Apple First Book Award. A book of fiction, Parasites Like Us, was published by Viking Press and reviewed in The New York Times Book Review. The North American Journal of Welsh Studies published an article, "A God of Grass and Pen: R.S. Thomas and the Romantic Imagination" by a former student.

Two former students who are now in law school participated in national trial competitions. One represented Loyola at the National Criminal Trial Competition while the other won the Best Advocate Award at the National First Amendment Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., representing Baylor University.

Two students were awarded teaching assistantships, sponsored by the French Ministry of Education, in France. Another was hired as an Instructor of English at McNeese State University.
